We marked each others lab reports and handed them back.  We recorded the trends for metals and nonmetals that we have learned over the past two days.  We recorded patterns in Bohr diagrams in the periodic table.
Homework:  Revise your lab report to hand in to your teacher on Monday.

We performed an experiment to observe some metals and their reactions.  A checklist for the lab report is on the back of your course overview confirmation 1/2-sheet.
Homework:  complete the lab report for tomorrow

We watched a lab safety video.  The link to it is on the Unit 1 page of this site.  You can also download a copy of the lab safety handout from that page, and the lab report format handout.
Homework:  2nd side of the homework sheet handed out yesterday - read and complete question 2; answer the questions at the bottom of the lab safety handout

"Periodic" means repeating in an identifiable pattern.  Today, we examined some of the periodic properties of elements.  The handout used, "Family Properties", can be downloaded from the unit 1 page.  You are expected to be able to analyse data related to the properties of elements to identify trends in the periodic table.  Read text when you get one, p.11, 21, 25-27.
Homework:  Answer p.29-31 #1, 3, 13

Welcome to semester 2!  Course overviews are on the science department website, ololscience.weebly.com.  Please view the one for this course with your parents, sign the confirmation sheet, and fill in the parental contact information to hand in tomorrow.  We reviewed the Bohr model of the atom, isotope symbols, Bohr diagrams and the terms "isotope" and "radioisotope".  Please complete Bohr diagrams for the first 20 elements for tomorrow.  The handouts are on the unit 1 page of this site, and are called "Bohr model review" and "Bohr diagrams"
