The unit test was written today.

We practiced ray diagrams and continued to review the unit.  The unit test is tomorrow.

We reviewed terminology and watched two videos on refraction and lenses.  The links for them are on the Physics Unit Page of this site.  Your unit test is on Friday.  Complete some of the review questions from your text.  They are listed in the homework blog from March 2.

We performed an activity to investigate the properties of the two types of lenses.  If you missed class, read p.551-553 and record labeled diagrams of a converging lens, a diverging lens, and the terminology used for each.  Read p.556-560 and record the light rays that can be used to locate the image for each type of lens (Fig. 2 on p.557 and Fig.6 on p.559).
Homework:  p.561 #2-5; continue to study for your test

Read the text p.535-538 and fill in a table with the headings:  Name of Phenomenon, Description, and Explanation.
Homework:  p.539 #1-7; continue to study for your test

Presentations were due today.  Many groups presented their information and handed in their rough notes and a reference sheet with it.  Those who could not present today will be doing so on Monday.
OPTICS UNIT TEST is next Friday, March 9.
Review for Test:  p.590 #1-7, 9-14,16, 19, 30, 31, 36, 40-42, 44-47, 51-56

If light moves from a slow medium to a fast medium at a large angle of incidence, the light might not leave the slow medium.  Instead of refracting out, it reflects inside.  Consult your text, p.526-530 for help with this.
Homework:  Read p.527-530 and answer p.531 #2-5, 8, 9
Your Optics Presentation is due tomorrow!
