The sun supplies the earth with light energy which the earth turns into heat.  This is what causes the air, land, water, ice and living things to affect climate in various ways.  Consult the text p.325-335.
Homework:  p.329 #5; p.335 #7

We discussed climate and weather and the things that affect climate.  Consult the text p.319-324.  There is a note on the Climate Change page called "climate intro".
Homework:  p.321 #1, 5, 6, 8, 9; p.324 #1, 2

Most students wrote their test today.
Homework:  complete the pH of Household Substances lab report to hand in tomorrow

Today we worked on review questions for tomorrow's test.  Continue to study for the test.

Most students completed their experiment to test household products for whether they are acidic, basic, or neutral.
Homework:  the lab report for this experiment is due Friday; study for your unit test on Thurdsay

We had a quiz on balancing equations and types of reactions.  We designed an experiment to test the pH of household products.
Homework:  study for the test on Thursday - see May 22 blog for text questions

We discussed the relation of the pH scale to acids and bases.  We discussed what happens when you mix acids and bases together.
Homework
Read p.273-275.  Answer p.275 #3-5
Read p.279-280.  Answer p.281 #1, 2, 7

Students who were on retreat yesterday completed yesterday's lesson today.  See the previous blog.

We learned how to identify, name and write formulas for acids and bases.  Consult the text p.268-270 for help with this, and download the "acid nomenclature" handout from the chemistry page of this website.
Homework:  p.271 #1-6
The chemistry unit test is on Wednesday, May 30.
The chemistry assignment is due Mon., May 28.

We completed an experiment to discover some of the properties of acids and bases.  The chemistry unit test is on Wednesday, May 30.  Review for the test should include completing the following, a little each night:  p.302 #1-4, 6-17, 19-23, 36-39, 40, 41, 43-45, 47-49, 51-57, 59, 60.  Students should also complete their research and begin to work on their unit assignment which is due next Monday.
